There was no ‘process’ involved while writing the song, “True Talk”. It just came naturally to me, while, one day, I was reading the newspaper in which almost every article reflected the political, social, and economic chaos in the country.
While a 182-meter-high statue was erected, there has not been a single point in the last five years when India touched great heights, except for the fake high hopes of “Achhe Din” given by our prime minister. Whenever he visited any international arena, NRIs who praised him, obviously because he spoke about how the previous government failed.
Today, in order to keep ourselves safe, we are being told what to eat, what to watch, what to listen to, and what ideology to follow. And if anybody dares to question the government’s actions, they are labeled as ‘anti-nationals’. Well, in my opinion, that’s not what “Democracy” means.
Communalism, lynchings, discrimination against minorities, casteism, and corruption—we witnessed it all in the last five years. Also, did anyone else wonder why everything major happened in the first three months of the year 2019 just before elections? Well, now is the time to correct our mistakes. I urge everyone of legal voting age to exercise their right to cast their vote.
Remember, our Indian flag consists of two more colors other than saffron, which stand for peace and growth along with the wheel of law. Keep yourselves aware and please don’t follow a ‘trend’ or any political party unquestioningly. Know your candidates, and then vote.
Keep your mind and eyes open and you’ll surely see the light.
