Two stalwarts of Indian cinema only had to sit across each other to effortlessly carry on an engaging tête-â- tête on 'Bollywood' - a word that, interestingly, both find regressive. Both Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns have won over audiences recently and are being lauded for bringing out commendable performances by Irrfan Khan and Kangana Ranaut respectively. So when these two actors were put in the same room, that there was refreshingly genuine conversation is unsurprising!
In this video by Anumpama Chopra's Film Companion, Ranaut and Khan bring out personal opinions off each other through some honest questions. They chat about the interval scene in Piku, changing criteria in choosing roles over the years, "intrinsic rhythms" in line delivery, irrelevance of box office numbers, "the pulse of audiences", evolving expectations, international successes and formulae, social media, being 'outsiders', and more. Watch this conversation for revelations about what these grounded, unconventional artists think of cinema.
