If you haven’t already, it is high time that you meet the inspiration behind the Bollywood movie ‘ABCD2’. ‘Kings United‘ is the first dance crew to win a bronze medal for India at the ‘World Hip-Hop Dance Championships 2015’.
Suresh Mukund and Vernon Monteiro founded the crew, which was initially known as the ‘Fictitious Dance Group’ (you read that right!) in 2009, going on to become the winners of ‘Boogie Woogie’, ‘Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’, ‘India’s Got Talent Season 3’ and the first-ever Indian finalists at the World Hip-Hop Championships 2012. It was their backstory that provided fodder for the Remo D’Souza-directed Bollywood dance drama.
While their initial story is quite popular due to the movie, their story, after the movie was released, is no less than another Bollywood drama. The group went through a split, came back as the rebranded ‘Kings United’ and then went on to represent India on the global stage.
After marking India on the world map of hip-hop, they have now inaugurated their own academy called the ‘Kings United Kingdom Of Art’ in Mumbai.
Check this video out that traces their journey post-‘ABCD2’.
